...I am American musician and a founding member and original

lead singer of the band Kansas.

My roots are in rhythm and blues when

I started singing in bands at 13. I later branched out into progressive rock

in my late teens once I was involved

with musicians that wanted to do more than be a club/dance band.

I loved being in Kansas, and our experimentation led me to begin

using my voice as another instrument.

I searched for ways to add to the music using falsetto and various vocalizations.
 

Recording with Proto Kaw  in the early 2000's, was a dream come true for me. We were the reformed version of

Kansas II (there were 3 versions of Kansas). Proto Kaw, re-grouped after our original Kansas II demo recordings were discovered and released on Cuneiform Records in 2002.

This led to Kerry Livgren (‘Dust In the Wind’) writing music for three more albums including 'Before Became After ' in April 2004, followed by the third CD 'The Wait of Glory ' in January 2006. We toured the US and Europe in 2006 and released our fourth CD in 2011

entitled 'Forth'.

I've also taken part in two international collaborative albums by Stardust Reverie in 2014 and 2016 that used lead singers from around the world and have recently begun recording with Plastique, a band I worked with in the 1980’s.
 

In 2011, I was honored to be inducted in the Manhattan High School 'Wall of Fame' and in 2015, and with Proto Kaw

when we were inducted in the

'Kansas Music Hall of Fame' in 2016.

 

Kerry Livgren has just released his new album 'Q.A.R.' (2022) that features a variety of lead singers of which I am one. My song is entitled 'The Days We Live'.
